Park - A Personal Perspective
The fifth Angus Macleod Memorial Lecture, by Kristine Kennedy, October 2008. (English Version)

Kristine grew up in a rich Gaelic-speaking culture, absorbing songs and traditions; hers is perhaps the last generation for which this could be said to be true.
The Future of Crofting - the Case for Crofting Tenure
The fourth Angus Macleod Memorial Lecture, by Brian Wilson; October 2007
In his talk, Brian argues that proper regulation of the crofting system is essential to retain population and cultural continuity in remote areas, and that this is best carried out at very local level.
The Clearances in Lewis: Truth or Myth?
The third Angus Macleod Memorial Lecture, by Bill Lawson; October 2006.
Bill Lawson argues that, while there were clearances in several parts of Lewis, notably Pairc and Uig, the number of people affected was relatively less than in other parts of the Outer Hebrides, and that a higher proportion of those who were cleared re-settled in other areas of Lewis.

There can be few districts of Lewis, or indeed the Western Isles, which have experienced more dramatic changes in population than the area covered in this Croft History, the Southern part of the Pairc peninsula, taking in the settlements on the north side of Loch Shell and the now totally uninhabited terrain south of the loch, stretching down Valamus and Loch Seaforth at the Harris boundary.
Today, the whole of this vast area has a permanent resident population of over 50, mainly concentrated in Lemreway and Orinsay - but in the past the population has been much greater - there were over 300 people in Lemreway alone in the early twentieth century

Roll of Honour 1935-1945
This comprehensive publication details all those from the Pairc area of Lochs who served in the Second World War. It is not intended as a celebration of war but it may serve as a reminder to successive generations of the sacrifices demanded of a particular generation and the contribution that a small, isolated rural community made to a nation at a time of need. The book includes the villages of Orinsay, Lemreway, Gravir, Calbost, Marvig, Cromore, Toristay, Garyvard, Caversta, Kershader and Habost.
