I am keen to purchase the Eishken booklet. A forefather of mine Alex Mackay crofted at Smuisivig in the 1820/30s and then moved onto Scaliscro Uig where I found him on the 1841 census aged 40 as a Shepherd with his family, and his father Kenneth (aged 70). When and why did Kenneth Mackay come into Pairc? I can only assume they came in when the sheep farm was established. Where might they have originally come from? I have heard people relating to Mackays in Lewis as either Harris, Bragar or Vatisker Mackays; are these families related? My father was born and raised in Coulegrein Stornoway.

My grandfather, Sydney Charles McCready, served with the Seaforth Highlanders from 1891 (as a drummer boy in India) until just after 1919. I am trying to locate records showing him being stationed in Edinburugh and Fort George. Can you point me in the right direction>

Hi, Have enjoyed looking at this site, especially as we shall be on Harris again the first week in July this year, and we are hoping to visit the Pairc area and find out as much as we can about it. If you have any suggesions or ideas, please feel free to contact me. I also very much enjoyed seeing the photo side show.

Ruaraidh Rob Mackinnon, 2 Garyvard, is my grandfather. It is really great and emotional to read about his early life as when I used to visit he would tell me lots and lots of wonderful stories, but none going so far back in time. Having found this I am now actively searching for more wonderful tales and stories to build up a fuller picture of my families life and history.

Were the 2 Mackaskill (sp?) brothers at the school then? I hear one of them bought their old school but I'm not sure whether it's this school.
